WMU SPED INTERNS

Dear Interns,

Post your questions here to brainstorm various ideas and concerns regarding your internship. Ask your fellow interns to provide their thoughts and ideas about questions you may have. Here is the first question for you to provide your ideas to your colleagues:
Question from Germany:
One of my students has been working on her colors since fall. She has a cognitive impairment and even though her aide works with her every morning on her colors, she has not memorized them. Her aide is wonderful and has tried many different strategies to help her with her colors. She can match a brown marker to a brown bear but when you ask her what color it is she’ll say green! pink! etc. I suggested playing twister with her (but not using left and right obviously), which I think we’re going to try next week. I asked if she was color blind and they said they’ve been told she’s not. Anyway, I was wondering if you had any suggestions? I looked online for more strategies but didn’t really see anything that they hadn’t tried and that caught my eye.
